Does your voice crack or cut out in the middle of speaking?

So glad you found us!

We are the Voice Science™ Team: Advocating for Communication Impact since 2013

Voice therapy is the cornerstone of our clinic.

You might even catch us reading research articles on the tram or train to work about voice therapy. It really gets us going!

As speech pathologists we really have to use our own voices a lot. We can therefore vouch for what works! Each day we do voice  therapy on ourselves to stay in optimal vocal form- practicing what we preach, right?!

When you come for yor first voice assessment session with us, please don’t panic. Voice problems can be stressful, especially if you are a singer or performer or facing massive challenges at work in your teaching or lecturing due to voice fatigue. Maybe you have had a recent ENT investigation and you’ve been sent to us. Don’t panic.

When you arrive for your first appointment you will be met by a voice clinician who is kind, vivacious and skilled in getting to the bottom of things.

We are here to advocate and give strategies to restore your voice as best as we can. This is a team effort. Are we good to get cracking? We can’t wait!

How do speech pathologists work in the area of Voice?

Speech pathologists study, diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with voice. They also provide services to modify or enhance communication performance (e.g. preventative voice care)*

According to Speech Pathology Australia, the official registration organisation for Speech Pathologists in Australia, Speech Pathologists often assist in the remediation and prevention of voice disorders among all ages.

Early intervention is the best method, so if you have noticed vocal changes in your singing or speaking voice act fast.

At Voice Science™ acoustic data is taken to determine a clinical impression of the vibratory behaviour of your vocal folds. Your clinician will also undertake extensive behavioural, perceptual and qualitative outcome measures to ensure that a thorough diagnosis is formed. If necessary, a referral will be made to an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon to obtain any additional information that might be underlying your voice problem.

We offer discrete voice care and rehabilitation to professional voice users and liaise closely with singing teachers, acting coaches and employers to ensure holistic care, at your request.

Voice Science also offers an after hours on call service for vocal performers.
